Snow Fairy Shower Gel

ChristmasFUN FACT:
Snow Fairy shower gel was first put out in 2007. If it comes back this year for Christmas, it will have been part of the Christmas range for 10 years. It will be one of the longest products put out with a Limited Edition range.

Let me take you back to Christmas of 2011. This was my first Christmas purchasing the bright, wonderful and beautiful smelling Christmas products, that Lush put out as part of there Limited Edition Christmas release. I had looked into everything online from the year before and had an idea of what I would pick up when I went in store. Little did I know, that I wold fall madly in love with Snow Fairy shower gel. Keeping in mind I had only picked up a 100 gram shower gel to try and did not know about Christmas in July. I would only use the 100 gram bottle once or twice a month as I never wanted to run out of it. I have been lucky enough to be able to pick up a bottle or two every time it is out.

Snow Fairy shower gel has a sweet candy floss, bubble gum and pear drop scent to it and that is exactly what it smells like. It is a beautiful shade of pink with a blue lustre running through the shower gel. It is not one of the normal, herbal scents that you think Lush would do. If you love anything that has a sweet scent to it, like The Comforter shower cream (review to come) then you will love Snow Fairy shower gel. There is lustre in Snow Fairy, which biodegradable and is made from seaweed, so that it does not hurt the environment at all. I have never seen it left over on my skin or in my hair when used as shampoo. When used as a shampoo it pairs really beautifully with American Cream conditioner (review to come), which leaves my hair feeling soft and silky.

There are those of you out there that detest anything that has a over powering sweet candy scent to it. Snow Fairy shower gel will not be for you, if you do not scents enjoy that. It is a either you love it or hate it type of shower gel. I for one will always have a bottle or two in my shower gel shelf.

The Snow Fairy scent family is always growing. If you have tried any of the following but not the shower, then you need to get your hands on a bottle as soon as possible. As I do reviews for each product, I will update them all with the link so you can have a read over each one of them as well. These are just all the products I could think of at the moment and know I may have missed a few. Please let me know if I have in the comments.

Black Pearl Shower Gel Review

There are going to be those that either love or dislike Black Pearl shower gel. I am still on the fence about it and have been using it on and off for the last week, after finding out that it was making a reappearance in the Lush Kitchen. I have had my bottle for a while now and never seem to reach for it very often. While I love the colour of Black Pearl shower gel, I am just not completely sold on the fragrance of it. To me the texture of the gel is off and reminds me of slime. But in saying that it could be, because we are coming into winter that my bottle may just need running under warm water before each use. Our bathroom is freezing during this time of year.

If you are not the biggest fan of Twilight shower gel, then Black Pearl shower gel may just be for you. Unlike Twilight which is tonka, lavender and ylang ylang, Black Pearl is chamomile and lavender scented. My noise picks up the chamomile more then the lavender. Black Pearl is a shower that will help to relax you at night, after a long day at work, studying, being or a parent or just for anyone that needs a relaxing shower or bath before bed. I do personally like Twilight more for relaxing but that is for another blog post.

Chamomile Infusion, Chamomile Blue Oil, Lavender Flower Infusion, Lavender Absolute, Olibanum Oil, Myrrh Resinoid and Almond Oil are the main ingredients and scent note to Black Pearl shower gel.

Chamomile Infusion and Blue Oil have a sweet floral fragrance. Chamomile is anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, bactericidal and sedative. It is believed that Chamomile is calming for the mind, body and soul, soothing for both the emotions and the skin. Lavender Flower Infusion is used for its calming, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory effects and it is said to help heal wounds and burns. It is also has a balancing and calming effect on the mind. Lavender Absolute is a dark green liquid, that smells less floral then the essential oil. Lavender is often used to calm the mind and aid restful sleep. Lavender oil helps treat a wide verity of burns, sunburn, muscular pain, skin complaints, cold sores, and insect bites. Olibanum Resinoid is also called Frankincense, it is the resin of the Boswellia carterii tree. The resin has a woody, fresh and slightly fruity aroma to it. Olibanum covers the skin with a thin, protective film. Which is softening on the skin. It is perfect for those that get sore, dry, cracked and eczema prone skin. Myrrh Resinoid is used for its antiseptic and skin soothing qualities. It also has a decadent spicy scent as Myrrh trees are from the same botanical family as frankincense. Almond Oil has a conditioning and moisturising effect on the skin and hair as it is packed full of vitamin E.

Black Pearl shower gel lathers up nicely in the shower and fulls the shower with its Chamomile and Lavender fragrance. The colour is beautiful and has the edible silver lustre in it to. The lustre does not stick to your skin and the colour does not stain the shower or bathface

Shower Gel

Prince Shower Gel Review

I am going to be honest with you. I have spent the last four days trying to figure out away to write this review of Prince shower gel. I had spent a few weeks trying to find a bottle the last time it was out in the Lush Kitchen and manged to get my hands on it. A lot of the gels I own get used once or twice and added to the collection, some even forgotten about. When I found out that it was going to be in the Kitchen this week, I pulled it out and used it multiple times. I have come to the conclusion that I do not enjoy Prince shower gel. It is one of the few that I do not like.

But in saying that, I do love the beautiful shade of blue that is Prince shower gel, which when lather up leave the bubble with a blue tint to then. It does not stain your skin, shower or bath. If you are looking for a light citrus scented shower gel, then Prince is for you. It is not over powering scent in the shower. Lemon, orange, mandarin and neroli will give you that kick you need in the morning to wake you up. I found that with the bottle that I own that the scent did not last very long on the skin at all. It dried my skin out and with someone that already has dry skin it made it worse. But that is just me. You may find that you love it and will reach for it often.

Fresh Organic Lemon Juice, Neroli Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Vetivert Oil, Sweet Orange Oil and Mandarin Oil all make up the fragrance for Prince Shower Gel.

Fresh Oranagic Lemon Juice has a citruis fragrance. Lemon juice cleanses and rejuvenates the surface of the skin. Neroli Oil is intensely green and floral uplifting scent and has a toning effect on the skin. It is used in a range of Lush products. Neroli is one of the few essential oils to be scientifically proven to increase serotonin production in the brain, which makes us feel contented and cheerful. Orange Flower Absolute has an intensely floral aroma. Orange flower is one of the most popular essential oils used in perfumery as it is refreshing on the skin and to mattifies it. Sweet Orange Oil comes from the peel of sweet oranges. Its refreshing aroma is used to boost the spirit and to help boost the immune system. Mandarin Oil refreshes the body with an uplifting fragrance that clears the mind and gives a sense of well being.

If you like Prince shaving cream, you will love Prince shower gel as they are from the same scent family. I do wish that the scent did last a bit longer and that is one of the only things I would change about Prince shower gel. Please let me know what you think of Prince shower gel and if you enjoy it or if you did not like it.

Shower Gel

Assassin Shower Gel Review

I picked Assassin shower gel up the last time it was out in the Lush Kitchen. In all honestly I think I may have tried it on my hands and put it away. Well, when I found out that it was making a reappearance in the Kitchen. I had to pull it out and try it out in the shower. It didn’t disappoint me at all and put me in a really good mood after using it. I can now see this being a shower gel that I will now pull out more and use. Assassin shower gel is a herbal shower gel, which fulls the shower with Oakmoss, Cypress and Pine, when it hits the skin and water.

One of the many things I love about Lush is there ability to bottle a fragrance straight from nature. Assassin shower gel reminds me of time spent walking through the damp bush/forest as a child. Picking up pine needles, pine cones and throwing them around, touching and picking the moss off trees. Just looking up and having a canopy of pine tress cover the sky, the sight just filling you with love, happiness and joy. Coming home covered in dirt with pine needles in your hair and pockets. There are so many Lush fragrances that bring memories flooding back. I am forever grateful to be able to pick up a product and it remind me of a person or point in time that I loved. Assassin shower gel is one of the products that does this to me.

Cypress Oil, Pine Oil, Patchouli Oil, Oakmoss Absolute, Rosemary Infusion, Sicilian Lemon Oil and Agar Agar Gel. Are the main frangce note and ingredients in Assassin shower gel.

Crypress Oil is used for its antiseptic, antibacterial and stimulating properties. It helps soothes sore muscles and increases blood circulation. It has a clean woody energising aroma. Pine Oil helps to clear and calm the mind. It also has cleansing and antiseptic qualities to it as well. Patchouli Oil is wildly used today in perfumery for its distinctive, earthy aroma. Patchouli helps relax and has an uplifting affect on the mind. There are also antibacterial properties to it, which are very kind to sore, irritated skin. Oakmoss Absolute has a earthy and mossy aroma.  It has a rich, dark green colour like the forest floor. The absolute blends extremely well with other floral essential oils such as patchouli and jasmine as well as citrus fruit oils and vetivert oil. Rosemary Infusion is used for its relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties. Rosemary has woodsy, citrus-like fragrance to it. Sicilian Lemon Oil is a cirtrus fragrance. Which has antibacterial properties and is used to cleanse the skin and refresh the mind. Agar Agar Gel is used to help soften and moisturise skin and hair . It is a species of seaweed known as agarophytes which is nutrient rich. Its jelly-like consistency means it helps to thicken and hold other ingredients in products that it is used in.

Assassin shower gel is like the hot cousin to Grass, Tramp and Supertramp shower gels, if they were butch as farmers (no offence to anyone out there). If you love the herbal scents that Lush do, then you need it in your life. It is a beautiful, deep forest green coloured shower gel, that lathers up really nicely when used. The scent lasts on your skin for a short while after wards and the Agar Agar gel, leaves your skin feeling soft to the touch. I could not stop smelling my arms after using it.

I really do hope Lush put out more products in the scent family because Assassin shower gel is the only one so far that they have made. The companies and sister company before Lush has this in body spray form and a few other products as well.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua) Agar Agar Gel, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Chicory Infusion, Rosemary Infusion, Lauryl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Perfume, Cypress Oil, Pine Oil, Oakmoss Absolute, Sicilian Lemon Oil, Patchouli Oil, Lactic Acid, *Limonene, *Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal. Hydroxycitronellal, Chlorophyllin Methylparaben, Propylparaben.

Shower Gel

B-Electro Shower Gel Review

We have now come to one of my favourite shower gels of all time, B-Electro shower gel. What makes this one of my favorites….. is well everything. What is not to love about a electric green shower gel, that will kick start your day and put a smile across your face when you use it.

B-Electro shower gel is my pick me up, in the mornings. When I have had a unsettled sleep or been up half the night with little people. Or just want to be reminded of Summers at my Mum’s place. I first discovered B- Electro shower gel in 2013 when it became a online Limited Edition product on the LUSH New Zealand website. It was my first taste of Limited Edition shower gel that didn’t come out for any of the Lush seasonal releases (Valentines Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Christmas in July if your in NZ or Australia, Fathers Day, Halloween or Christmas). This is the shower gel that has lead me to collect every shower gel that has come out in the Lush Kitchen, in store and online. I have lost count of how many bottles I now own.

Grapefruit Oil, Fennel Oil, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Absolute and Organic Jojoba Oil. Are the main scent notes of B-Electro shower gel.

Grapefruit Oil has a fresh zesty, citrus fragrance, which has an uplifting affect on the mind. Grapefruit Oil has antibacterial properties on the hair and skin, which help to add shine to hair and clear up the skin. Fennel Oil has a mild aniseed fragrance. It has cleansing, toning and stimulating effects on the skin. In aromatherapy it is used to cleanse oily or congested skin and to reduce inflammation. Rose Absolute is the rose fragrance that you smell in B-Electro. It is used to lift the mood and restore balance. Jasmine Absolute has a earthy floral fragrance which provides a deep rich note to products and perfumes. Organic Jojoba Oil is used to hydrate the skin and hair. It is absorbed by the skin more easily then other oils.

The scent lasts on the skin for a little while after being used. The fragrance fills up the shower and really wakes you up. It is a thick gel but is not hard to get out of the bottle and lathers up really nicely. The Jojoba Oil that is in B-Electro means that it is not a drying shower gel on the skin.

If you love grapefruit and the smell of aniseed, you will love B-Electro. It is like the older, hotter sister to Happy Hippy shower gel. I would recommend it to anyone, if you can get your hands on it. If you love the B Scent perfume and want it in a shower gel B-Electro is your answer.

Shower Gel

Ol’ Blue Skies Shower Gel Review

For anyone that loves Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds bubble bar and Blue Skies liquid bubble bath, you will love Ol’ Blue Skies shower gel. What is not to love about a shower gel that looks like a clear blue, sunny day outside.

This is one shower gel that helps me relax on days where I am feeling stressed out or unsure about everything that is happening around me. I can just pick up the bottle, open the lid and have a few big sniffs, be reminded of warm sunny days. Going for walks in the bush or park. It is even better in the shower or bath. There is just something about Ol’ Blue Skies that I really love.

Patchouli Oil, Cinnamon Leaf Oil and Olibanum Resinoid. Are the main scent notes of Ol’ Blue Skies shower gel.

Patchouli oil is wildly used today in perfumery for its distinctive, earthy aroma. Patchouli helps relax and has an uplifting affect on the mind. There are also antibacterial properties to it, which are very kind to sore, irritated skin. Cinnamon Leaf is used for its spicy, woody notes. It creates an uplifting scent to fight fatigue and mood. Cinnamon is warming on the skin and helps improve circulation through out the body.

The scent last on the skin and is one that I can pick up hints of, hours after having a shower. It is not a shower gel that will leave  your skin feeling dry and tight. As you can see from what the ingredients that are in Ol’ Blue Skies it is made for anyone that has trouble with dry skin. Well anyone really that loves the bubble bar and liquid bubble bath. It lathers up really nicely and for a thicker shower gel, it is easy to get out of the bottle.

I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try it. It is worth getting your hands on a bottle. If you love Tramp shower gel or shower jelly and any of the Karma range, you will love Ol’ Blue Skies shower gel.
